Tuesday, 10 January 2012
With two championship golf courses and a stunning mansion hotel, De Vere Carden Park underlined its credentials as one of the country’s premier golfing resorts after being named as the ‘Best Hotel / Resort in the North of England’ by readers of the UK’s best-selling golf magazine, Today’s Golfer.

The inaugural awards were held in conjunction with leading golf travel operator Your Golf Travel and saw thousands of readers vote for their favourite golf destinations around Europe. With almost twice as many votes as the second placed resort, De Vere Carden Park was the overwhelming winner in the ‘North of England’ category.
The resort is set amongst 1000 acres of stunning Cheshire countryside, centred on its two championship courses. The Nicklaus course, designed by 18-time major championship winner Jack Nicklaus, stretches to 7,045 yards at its longest and is a true test for golfers of all abilities whilst the picturesque Cheshire course measures 6,824 yards and winds through wooded areas behind the resorts state-of-the-art Clubhouse. Both are supplemented by the luxurious Carden Park Hotel, an ideal setting for both business and leisure with a host of guest rooms, suites and conference facilities that overlook the scenic countryside. With sumptuous spa facilities, as well as several award-winning restaurants, De Vere Carden Park exceeds guests’ expectations, offering premium hospitality and guest services.
“We are delighted to be recognised as the best golf resort in the North of England,” Hamish Ferguson, General Manager, Carden Park Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa. “With such an array of great golf facilities in the region, the award is certainly testament to the hard-work and dedication of everybody involved with the running of the resort. Both courses are presented in impeccable condition throughout the year, and we pride ourselves on offering every guest a personal service. The award being voted for by readers of the UK’s best-selling golf magazine speaks volumes about the experiences of our guests and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to De Vere Carden Park, and continuing to exceed the high-standards that we set ourselves.”
As well as Carden Park’s success, De Vere Slaley Hall near Newcastle was also recognised, picking up the award for Best Course in the North-East of England. Both resorts are part of the revolutionary De Vere Club membership, which offers golfers the opportunity to play at 16 De Vere courses across the UK. Priced at just £295 a year, the flexible membership has given a wide appeal amongst families, businessmen and the avid golfer, with members including cricket legend Freddie Flintoff, Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, and model, Sophie Horn.
